Episcopal Identity

We are proud to be an Episcopal school.  This is best described by the National Association of Episcopal Schools as "Christian communities whose missions integrates spiritual formation into all aspects of the educational experience."  St. Mary's Episcopal Church and St. Mary's Episcopal Day School are rooted in very traditional principles which are guided by the Book of Common Prayer.  It is upon this guide that we teach, love and inspire each individual child to grow and flourish in God's love and grace.   We welcome all children and families to come and experience the spiritually, intellectually, socially and emotionally environment of our school community.

Philosophy

St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School recognizes each child develops differently and at his/her own pace; therefore, we focus on the whole child. We are committed to offering a safe, loving, and fun Christian classroom for students to discover, explore, and learn about themselves and the world around them knowing the love and grace of God.   Our goal is to grow each child to their full potential in a loving and nurturing environment with God's grace and love as our guide.  We aspire for the lessons they learn to serve as a steppingstone, to build a live filled with genuine meaning, purpose and service into the world they will one day inherit.

Certification and Licensing

The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) holds St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School to the same standards that it holds Pre-School-Grade 12 large city schools, including boarding schools accredited by SAES. Episcopal schools accredited or certified by SAES are reviewed annually to assure that the hallmark trait of excellence is found in every SAES school.

Among some of the high standards required by SAES for an Early Childhood program are small teacher/student ratios, designed for optimum supervision and student learning; a qualified teaching staff who holds, where appropriate, a college degree or Child Development Certificate (CDC); and on-going professional training for all teachers throughout the year in addition to an annual SAES conference.

St. Mary's Day School is also licensed as a day care provider that is regulated by the Texas Health and Human Services under Child Care Regulations.
